The Manifestation of Ego

If there is one thing that is the root of all the problems, it is EGO. Rightfully, it is called ego, which stands for Edging God Out. Yes, it is the ego that starts of process of thinking where one differentiates between the physical self and all others that are outside the self. When the five senses and six enemies play upon the mind, then the ego starts to cause all the problems we witness in the world.

All the nations have patriontism that is definiteloy borne of ego. Hence it becomes acceptable to differentiates between I and they. It is okay to kill the Jews or it is a lesson to kill Chinese in Nanking massacre to educate them. There is no dearth of reasons to differentiates between others and the self to behave in a manner of domination. That is what allowed some people to claim that they were the chosen people sent to dominate others, inculding have dominion over Earth, allowing complete exploitation of the "others." One of the biggest curse of humanity was colonization that made it okey to mistreat and subjugate people who looked different in any way and "civilize" those savages. 

Who is really turning out to be savages now? Who seens ememies all around? Who needs to have military bases all over the world? Who is always on guard and feel insecure? Who is constantly aware of others and their different ways and then try to impose "democratic" norms and culture? Who is jealous of others who find their own way based on their own history and culture and make progress? Who feels threatened by others rising?

It is only ego which does not allow to see the unity of life, creation or being. Ego is the smallness of an individual alienated from the awareness of the soul, and limited only on the senses, body and desires. It allows for killing of others to subjugate them, and killing of other animals for food, pleasure or for no reason, just because they wanted to. 

In this age, more and more people have moved away from spirituality, and even religion is misused in the name of ego to promote discord and discrimination. Our religion is the only true religion; Our God is the only true God. All others are going to hell. This notion coming from the religions that were the recent ones to arrive in human affairs makes it laughable. Religion has probably become the most destructive ego-driven curse on humanity never ceasing to kill each other since the crusades until the here and the now era. 

What needs to be conquered for humanity is this ego. Instead of edging god out, ego could easily be Experiencing God's Omnipresence. That is what a true spirituality is. There is nothing but God in the universe, and unless we kill the ego, that will remain unknown.
